Perspective: Addressing the Risk Factors of Physical Inactivity and Poor Nutrition

Partnership for Prevention promotes evidence-based approaches to address obesity and its underlying risk factors of physical inactivity and poor nutrition. Partnership recently produced several evidence-based action guides to increase physical activity and improve nutrition in community and workplace settings. The Community Health Promotion Handbook: Action Guides for Improving Community Health contains three guides that focus on developing a community trail, enhancing physical education classes in schools, and establishing a community-based walking group program. Investing in Health: Evidence-Based Health Promotion Practices for the Workplace offers tips for employers on how to encourage physical activity and better eating habits among employees. Partnership is also updating its popular publication Healthy Workforce 2010 to emphasize physical activity and nutrition.
