Recently, CDC epidemiologists published an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association to the effect that there was not a significant change over the past 12 years in the nation’s obesity rate of 35.5% for adult men and 35.8% for adult women.

The webinar also unveiled key takeaways from a new guidelines document, Pounds and Policy: Building a Healthier Nation with Effective Communication and Legislation.

The Strategies to Overcome and Prevent (STOP) Obesity Alliance Essential Health Benefits (EHB) Task Force hosted an expert panel via webinar to discuss the need for and research behind its EHB recommendations. Moderated by Alliance Director Christine Ferguson, JD, the panel discussion focused on why obesity must be given equal weight as other health conditions and why access to obesity-related services is important for improving the health of Americans.
